Swimming pool safety normally gets a lot of attention when someone
drowns. When a drowning occurrs the tragedy gets a couple of days in the newspaper and maybe a mention on the 6 O'clock News.
Other than that, pool safety is a topic that gets little air and print coverage. Sadly, reports from the US Consumer Product
Safety Commission (May 2004) indicate that 250 children under the age of 5 drown annually in swimming pools. The same report
indicates that 1600 immersion injuries were treated in 2002.
This site is intented to give swimming pool owners some
insight into practical steps they can take to ensure their children (and their relatives and neighbors' children) don't add
to these statistics. It is our desire to bring attention to safety hazards you may have overlooked. Your swimming pool should
be a memory-making experience for you and your family. Please take the necessary steps towards making it the safest possible
environment for your children.
Don't expect any product, building code, feature, device or gadget lure you into a
false sense of safety regarding your pool. Know that YOU are the first and last line of defense between your pool and your
children. There is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR COMPETENT SUPERVISION. That said, know that there are "safety layers" you can put in
place to give you the extra time you may need in preventing a drowning in your pool. We'll discuss "layers of safety" on the
next few pages. The more layers you have in place, the better protected your children are. Please strive for as many layers
as possible.

Welcome to our site on Swimming Pool Safety. We run
a pool cleaning service in Palm Beach County Florida. Being involved in the pool industry we see first hand the dangers associated
with swimming pools. We earn our living in the pool industry and we feel it our duty to do all we can to protect our clients
from potential dangers of swimming pools.
With the Web allowing a much broader audience than just our own clients,
we thought it would be worthwhile to create a site that all pool owners could use to help prevent accidents and drownings.
If the site helps just one family and saves the life of even one child, we'll be overjoyed!

What you'll find on our site are real-life tips for creating
a safe pool environment. We'll introduce you to products and devices that have been developed and proven to increase the safety
level of your own pool. Some of these products are inexpensive and some more costly, but all are worth the look to see if
they have a place in your own backyard.
You'll also be able to print a Safety Checklist to see if your pool needs to
be improved. Using Florida Building Code as a benchmark, we use this quiz when inspecting our clients pools. It helps us identify
safety areas that could be improved and it will likely help you as well.
Feel free to Email us using the links found
throughout the site. We'll try to answer any question you have regarding pool safety.
